Ağva, also called Yeşilçay (Green Brook), a small fishing town close to İstanbul is one the best places to relax and rest during spring and summer when bouintiful crops and delicious fruit embellish life near Black Sea. Freedom looks like several choices in Ağva, where one can find peace on the banks of the rivers, as well as on the shores with the golden sand and Blacksea breeze. As an ideal place for camping during the summer, and a charming town easy to access Ağva offers too much for lovers of nature and wildlife. On the banks of Green Brook, the fish restaurants welcome visitors who have come for the fresh fish from the sea and the river. There are some small hotels established alongside Green Brook and Goksu River with traditional cuisine, neat rooms, safe neighbourhood and reasonable prices. There is a wide range of outdoor activities in Ağva where you can even drop by during the weekends and feel free to explore the artistic energy of river banks. You can also visit Kerpe, Kabakoz, Kefken and Yeniköy, quaint little villages in the east of Ağva, that benefit from the same humid climate and fertile soil. Archaeological excavations have uncovered evidence of the region"s earliest inhabitants in the early Bronze Age settlements. Hittitians and Phrygians used to live in the region, however the town centre is founded by Bythinians during 7th century (BC) and remnants of this civilization was discovered in Meşrutiyet, Sofular, Kabakoz, Yeniköy, Göçeköy villages around Ağva. It is also possible to see the remnants of Roman, Geneose and Byzantium civilizations.There is no satisfying information about the town dating back to the Roman period. Ağva became a popular town in Byzantium period because of agricultural progress. The name Ağva comes from Latin, meaning between two rivers. Turkish settlement started in 1326. In the 15th century, soldiers of Yildirim Bayezid the fourth Sultan of Ottoman Empire invaded the town. During the Ottoman rule, there lived a certain prosperious Greek population in the neighbourhood who owned huge vineyards. Within the First World War, Greek inhabitants left the region. In 1922, Turkish forces led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who put an end to Ottoman dynasty came to Ağva and after the foundation of Turkish republic Ağva became a fishing town economicaly dependent to Şile. Most popular activities are salt water fishing by the sea, fresh water fishing by the small lakes and rivers, boating, trekking, covered wagon & tent camping, swimming, beach volley, snorkel, wildlife photography, cycling. Waterfalls, small islands, caves, and rocky mountains are great areas for taking wildlife pictures .Natural beaches of Ağva stretch for kilometres in each direction. The beaches on the western side are shallower and more sandy than those on the east. About ten kilometres away from the town centre are the main beaches of Kabakoz and Akçakese with popular campgrounds suitable for various economic and spatial needs of families and youngsters. Campgrounds are designed for covered wagon and tent camping.Miles of sandy beach is excellent for swimming, hiking and snorkel. Beach volley is a popular activity around Ağva, each summer locals and visitors enjoy playing beach volley together. Cycling tours are organised during the weekends by Kurfal Hotel. Uludağ is not only popular in winter also popular in summer for camping, tracking,picnic. Height of the Ski runway is between 1750mt and 2543mt.The heighest hill of west Anatolia is in Uludağ which mae is Karatepe with 2543mt
